more character sketches and ideas

Herro~

I got my yellow Bodyline carousel skirt in the mail a couple days ago, and it's so freaking cute! I like sweet lolita, but not on me... but this skirt called out to me! I think I'm slowly becoming a sweet lolita. *sob*
here were my nails~!

I've been doodling a whole bunch of these characters so much lately! I can't get the comic out of my head. While I'm at work, I think about it, while I'm at school, I think about it, and when I'm home, I talk to Aly about it!
It makes me excited though, because I always get comic ideas but I never really have the motivation to actually do them. I love working with Aly because I can bounce ideas off of her and she's also a way better writer than I am ahaha. :D

We make a great team! It feels amazing to actually be super inspired again and draw a lot. I had a terrible terrible artist dry spell for like a good year and a half. I couldn't draw anything!
It just feels so nice to be able to sit down and let my characters flow from my pencil again.

I really really do love character design, and this comic totally pushes me into animation even more so. I just got accepted to SCAD- and they have a great animation program! I'm so excited! (and also nervous~~!)

Anyway, onto the character sketches. I'm not going to reveal a lot about these characters, even though some of them are pretty fleshed out in my head already.

Once we actually get started on the comic, I'll be telling you more about the characters. I just don't want to spoil anything!!

This is the first initial sketch of Shorty (the girl), and she's a gang leader. I've made some alterations to her outfit now. I'm thinking of giving her a BTSSB dress or an AP dress. I just can't decide on the print yet!
She also speaks in a kick-ass old new york accent... kinda like the accents from the 1920's. :D

girl character heads some girls in the gang possibly. Which heads do you like the best? Also, don't mind the guy with the fetus growing off his head. that was just kinda a derp moment LOL.

another girl, and a couple guys for a guy gang. For some reason I made them all looking in one direction. except the guy in the bandana. cause he's a ~rebel.

I also have a gothic lolita in here too. I really like her facial structure ahah. It's fun to draw. She'll look more beat up in the comic. These are all just preliminary sketches of each character.

I also need to illustrate Blue's hawk/falcon... and some other things such as weaponry and vehicles!

Also, In my next update, I'll show you all the deco'd 3ds case I made! It's sweets inspired! complete with ice cream, biscuits and whipped cream. Yum~!

who likes comics about apocalypses, bombs, lolitas, and steampunk themes? well this is the post for you!

So Aly and I became inspired from our recent photoshoot we did. I was driving home from work one night and it dawned on me. We should make a comic about two lolitas in a post-apocolyptic world! When I came home and discussed it with Aly, we both pretty much fell in love with the idea. We've been working on it non stop ever since!

Here are some character designs we have. We have the two main Lolita characters, Blue and Hazel. They couldn't remember their names (plus a whole lot more) after the bomb, so they called each other the names of their eye color.

She lost her hair and most of her eyebrows due to radiation from the bomb.

Hazel coughs up blood due to the radiation also.

These are the two love interests!

Here's a colored version of Blue. I realize that I haven't posted any views of her from the front. I promise, she has a front!

Anyway, we are keeping most of the story hush-hush for now, until we really start drawing it out and such. But keep checking back! I'll be posting a lot of character designs and such. :D

clothes and things

Today was a kinda lull day. I accidentally slept through my alarm and missed church.

So I've been hanging around all day doing nothing.

here is today! This is a nice example of tying in Lolita clothes with normal clothes, which recently i've been doing ahaha:

I pulled up my pants so you can see my rocking horse shoes. XD They look kinda clunky with my pants pulled up like that, but I promise they look better with the pants baggy and hanging over them! lol

Unicorn 3DS case!

As promised, I figured I'd do a quick update about the other 3ds pouch I made! Here are some of the materials I started with:

The pouch took me about 3 hours to complete, because it is my second pouch- so I was still working out the kinks. :)

The pouch is a super handy thing to have! This one also has pockets for games and for the AR cards. This pouch is super great for any lolita/fairy-kei person! It's so freaking cute. I almost didn't want to sell it!

I'm also going to do regular pouches! They'll be cheeper and easier to make, since I don't have to make any extra pouches in there ahahah. :P

Art tiem

So I figure I should mention that this is a blog mostly about my crafts and art tiems. I will try to incorporate them into Lolita as often as possible, but sometimes that just can't happen. :)

So anyway, I purchased the 3DS a couple days ago, and it is phenomenal. Everything is in 3d, and you don't even need glasses to see it!! It's really mind blowing. The games that come on the 3DS are really fun too. I've been showing a lot of people and they have all been having a great time playing them. the one thing that sucks about the 3DS is that the 3d-ness gets all wonky when you view it from different angles. So if someone is looking over your shoulder while you play, it is very blurry to watch. But it is new technology, so I don't expect them to get it 100% perfectly right! The 3DS comes with "AR cards," which I think stand for "Augmented Reality." Basically, you put the card down on the table, and the ds reads it and then makes games appear in your "reality" on the screen! It's pretty neat. But in order to play, you always need to bring your cards along, which leads me to the main reason I'm making this post today!

I needed a pouch to carry around my 3ds, especially since I had to carry around the cards and such. Instead of buying one, I figured I'd make one! So this is what I made:

Isn't it adorable? It's slightly influenced by dolly-kei/mori girl. :) The animal that is on the front is a sugar glider. I have two of them! :D 

This is what the inside looks like:

I made a pocket in the back for the AR cards, and then my DS slips in snuggly in front of it. The pockets on the flap are for extra games that I might want to carry around. They are upside-down on purpose! When the flap closes, I wanted the games to face up, just so they don't fall out. I'd rather them slip out into the pouch when I open it, instead of them falling out in my bag or something! Besides, the games actually are very snug in there, and I'm 95% sure they wouldn't slip out unless someone purposely took them out! 

I've gotten a lot of compliments on this, so I figured I would make more! Here is a sneak peek on the one I just finished last night, and I will be selling it on my Etsy very soon! Keep an eye out! I'll post about it more tomorrow. :D
